Branding
A marketing term. Brand recognition and brand loyalty are well-known strategies/techniques marketers use to develop a companies image, position, product offering(s), etc.
A company's brand is its distinctive image that is created in the minds of customers, audience, and stakeholders. Branding can be seen as a representation of values, feelings, emotions, actions, and company vision.
Examples of Branding Include: company name, names, logo, symbol, words, graphics, colors, etc. (Think about: ebay, Yahoo, Kraft, Xerox)
CGI
Common Gateway Interface. CGI is any program that is intended to accept and return data based on the CGI specifications.
CGI programs are a common way for web sites (web servers) to interact dynamically with web site visitors.
Examples Include: Web site Counters, Guest Books, Stock Tickers, Java Applets, CGI Forms, and ActiveX Controls.
Copywriting / Copy
Copy writing or copywriting is a term used for the writing of ads, brochures, signage, direct mail, pamphlets, etc. It is a skillful manipulation and placement of words designed to help readers understand the offering(s) and speak to a general and/or targeted audience.
It is most commonly associated with the advertising, public relations, Internet marketing, and the marketing industry.
Domain Name
A domain name is a unique (www) name that identifies an Internet web site. They always have two or more parts separated by dots.
eCommerce or E-Commerce is short for electronic commerce. It deals with any sale or purchase or exchange or transaction of goods that takes place over the Internet.
Examples of eCommerce Sites Include: Amazon, eBay.
HTML
HyperText Markup Language. The coding / formatting / authoring language (text-based mark-up language) used to create all HyperText documents on the World-Wide-Web (WWW). It indicates the type of information that is going to be viewed.
HTTP
HyperText Transfer Protocol. The protocol for transferring (moving) hypertext files across the Internet. It is used between a web browser and a web server to request and transfer its contents. The HTTP protocol specification is maintained and developed by the W3C consortium (Word Wide Web Consortium).
Internet Marketing
Online marketing strategies and planning techniques that are applied on the Internet to support a businesses or organizations or individuals overall marketing or communications objectives.
Internet Marketing Strategy includes: Branding, Search Engine Optimization, Target Market Research, Human Interface Design, Web Design, Graphic Design, Industry Research, Budgeting, Project Management, Statistics, Demographics, Psychographics, Promotion, Public Relations, Customer Education, etc.
PDF
Portable Document Format. A file format developed by Adobe Systems. It can format a number of desktop software applications (i.e. Word & Excel) into a format that displays or prints them as they were meant to be distributed (displayed). PDF also compresses multiple formats into smaller more easer to transfer file sizes.
PHP
PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor. Widely-used open-source programming language mainly used for developing dynamic web sites (web content).
Project management involves budgeting, planning, development, implementation, management, coordination, and completion of a project.
It is concerned with the overall planning and co-ordination from beginning to end. It is aimed at successfully satisfying a customers (client's) requirements and ensuring on time completion, within budget, and to required quality standards.
Project management is typically carried out either by a private consultant or an employee of the project client.

SERP
SERP is the acronym for search engine results page. This is a website search engine like GOOGLE or MSN Search that returns the results of your search.
These SERP's display results that have been indexed by the search engines. The better your page ranking the better chance that your website will be listed in the first two SERP's.
Web Hosting
A service that allows individuals and businesses to upload and store HTML documents and related files on a Web server. These files can then be accessed on the Internet from anywhere in the world. Essentially, web hosting means giving your domain name and business a home on the Internet (much like a street address).
WWW. A system (network) of Internet web servers that uses HTTP to transfer (exchange) formatted documents and files (i.e. HTML, HTM, PHP, ASP, SHTML, images, video, sound, animation, etc.). People are able to surf the web using a Web Browser.
Example Browsers Include: Internet Explorer, Netscape Navigator, Mozilla Browser.
